an afternoon with the Monkeys…

monkey business 1

Before the default Bank Holiday weather kicked in, :( we took a trip to Staffordshire to visit Monkey Forest with my niece Meg who’s 3 1/2.

It was a really good afternoon spent wandering around the expansive fenced forest that is home to over 100 Barbary Macaques. They were quite chilled and obviously used to visitors (like me, with camera’s), and all looked content and VERY wise. It was funny seeing them snacking with ducks and squirrels hanging out nearby! :)

a little sketch, goes a long way…

big sketch

This is pretty crazy, the biggest drawing in the world!

An artist called Erik Nordenankar, gave DHL specific instructions to ship his case, containing GPS equipment around the world, tracing a world sized self portrait of himself!

Debate has started as to the authenticity of this work, and in the process DHL get alot of namechecks. Could be a viral advertising hoax, could be the first GPS earth sized drawing mankind has ever known!

Either way it’s worth checking out.

NEWS JUST IN 28/5/08

Erik’s come clean saying this is a fictional work, for his graduation project!! He deserves high marks for this…

Also he states this project was already underway before The World is my Canvas went live… over to Stavros… :)

the Cobblers kids…

got their shoes in the end!!

Have you heard that expression? The Cobblers kids? They run around barefoot while their Pops makes fine footwear for all and sundry… It can be a bit like that being a designer… you make work for other people all the time but work for yourself can end up being last on the list…

Well, EVENTUALLY, and I really mean EVENTUALLY!, I’ve got my site online, with a selection of works from my portfolio. It’s mega clean and hopefully very straightforward to navigate, if you fancy checking it out please go right ahead

Seaside fun in the sunshine.

ATP

Yesterday I got back from a brilliant weekend at ATP. It’s the first time I’ve made it to ATP despite years and years of quality line ups. This one was at Pontins in Camber Sands in East Sussex and it’s a really great festival experience. Lots of great music, fun by the sea, a HUGE sandy beach, some really great company plus a bed to sleep in, hot showers, non portaloos, a swimming pool and a kitchen(ette) to make some delicious grub.

We shared our chalet with our lovely friends the Capsule girls, Mr Ben and Ian - who despite not having a website is most certainly no less fun ;)

It was also a good opportunity to properly meet and hang out with Ian and Pip from 7 inch Cinema, amongst others.

After our  trip to the mudbath that was Glastonbury last year, I have to say that the chalet based festival experience might be the future as far as I’m concerned… :)

Hooray for ATP! Boo to Mud!
