Cloud Talk…
The week before last I went down to fancy London to the opening of my good friend Mr Jago’s solo exhibition at Stolen Space (Brick Lane).
Bearing in mind I’ve seen Duncan’s work develop over the last 15 years (or so!) I have to say that some of this stuff was truly mindblowing. The transition to ‘painter’ is settled and the absence of outlines allow fluidity to reign supreme in these works on canvas, silk and paper.
BLEEPIN marvellous… Colour schemes ruling as usual, and the camobots, some friendly looking, some pretty mean looking coming on strong in these works. It was a great evening with admirers and friends (who let’s be honest, are all admirers on Duncan’s work too!) travelling from far and wide.
Quite a few dot’s appeared that evening but the remaining pieces are online at Stolenspace - if only I was richer
- well worth a browse.
Also this weekend this short little interview with the man himself and friend and collaborator Will Barras surfaced at on-point. Filmed when they boys were painting in Belgium last year, it’s a cool little piece, with their class sense of humour truly shining at moments :)
raaaa!!

Wow! This is amazing!
I’ve never seen a record player used like this before…
Skillfully cutout objects or sequential images are expertly placed on a revolving turntable to create lovely animated loops. Bravo!!

and then there was Folk…
Moseley Folk Festival happened for the third time and the weather was kind. Very kind on Friday and Saturday and by all accounts rain didn’t dampen the vibe much on the Sunday either.
A really lovely atmosphere in a great setting with some quality music to enjoy (along with fine ales that took an age to buy ;), and some mighty fine falafels too!!
)
Prime Chris captured performances on video and some are surfacing on youtube already…
Highlights for me were, The Accidental, The Destroyers, The Bees and last and BY NO MEANS LEAST - in their first Birmingham show my good friends - the mighty BABEL.
Well done to everyone involved I can see that this fest will be around for years to come.

It’s been a wee while…
Firstly because we had a week by the seaside under canvas in Dorset…
A Great campsite right on the coast near Weymouth, in Dorset. The weather wasn’t all bad and when it was good it was lovely
The closeness to the sea made it VERY windy but our new tent survived an we returned to tell the tale.
On our third day there we were treated to a full Red Arrow’s display. Blimey - they don’t mess about!!
Seem’s they were around as part of the launch of Weymouth as the host for a bunch of event’s in 2012 Olympics…
So seven nights of fresh air, campfires, sea vibes and a distinct lack of pixels were a very welcome break from the norm.
Lovely part of the world too!! And you know the really great thing about camping? It sure makes you appreciate your home comforts… ![]()
