Rowan’s Run
I’ve been keen to post about this site since I saw the beta a few months back – Today sees the launch of www.davidrowan.org – lovingly built by the talented folks at Tak!
David Rowan takes pictures of places many people don’t either see or see like he does. From subterranean tunnels deep under the heart of the city to abandoned printworks. In his day job a photographer at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, his pin sharp image skills are honed on a daily basis, and the quality of his images reflect this.
The site works brilliantly in terms of showing his images large (and crsip), with optional immersive sountrack provided by Chris Herbert available through the inventive sound interface – move the coloured lines around…
Seeing this body of work in this great site confirms that Dave is a GREAT photographer. There’s loads of top work to browse, so go and check it out…

Walsall has a giant…
Last Thursday I went along to the opening of a new exhibition at New Art Gallery Walsall called Outsiders. Amongst the wealth of talented artists with work on display is my super talented friend Lucy Mclauchlan.
Having never been to this beautiful gallery I was quite taken by the building itself, and then heading towards the tunes, I saw it in all it’s glory… Towering above us Lucy’s piece incorporates found objects into her unique black brushwork, bringing a third dimension to the piece.
(To get a sense of the scale from the pic, at the bottom of the figure is a full size bass drum – it really does dwarf the viewer)
Other artists featured include Faile, Paul Insect, and Blu (who’s amazing animated painting Muto is shown below)
The show runs until 25 Jan 2009, it’s free admission and well worth a visit.

Don’t think – feeeeel…
This is pretty awesome. Bruce Lee* playing pingpong in a new ad for Nokia.
*I know it’s not REALLY Bruce Lee, but it’s really well styled and great fun.
Let’s face it you’ll have to let him win… you won’t like him when he’s angry!
